2018

The loneliness in the inner city is the thing which people cannot avoid. People at different ages are facing different kinds of loneliness. Retired people are likely to be more lonely in cities, especially in metropolises. Due to retirement, they are no longer busy and free from the stressful jobs. They suddenly have a lot of time, but they need to spend their time without any company. The related surveys imply that the interaction between surrounding people may become a main point to change the current situation. Therefore, how does housing create more social interaction for the retired people to ruduce the potential loneliness?

“Co-housing” is a suggestion for the growing loneliness in the metropolisis like London. The program focuses on the retired people as main users and tries to create a special home for them nearby the communities. They not only live together, but also share kitchen, dining room, activity areas and a small courtyard to enrich their retirement life. The program aims to explore a lifestyle of retirement to reduce the potential loneliness.
